And this is a perfect example of what I imagine some people may mean: dismissing out of hand the validity of their view - "nonsense"; that voicing concerns or misgivings is not a response to existing problems but is rather the cause of them - "self-fulfilling prophecy"; and that dissent is to be strongly discourgaed - "not helpful". One can only ask, to whom?
