We did advertise our rental townhouse on Craigslist for a couple of games but didn't get any takers. We're currently as close to the Square, the Grove and the football stadium as one can get (still a half-mile walk to the Grove, but only say 200 yards from the edge of campus). I was surprised we didn't find a renter as there were some people paying big money for the Texas and Texas A&M games.
If all goes well we're going to be moving to a subdivision just north of town. I'll miss the in-town location but look forward to a house. I think our new subdivision outlaws renting of any type. With that said, we're planning on putting three full-over-full bunk beds in the two bonus rooms upstairs, so technically our new home will be able to sleep up to 20, so I would think I could get a good rent. Not sure I'd want 20 people in my house without me there, though! (The reasons for the bunks is that we want to be able to host friends for ballgames, Neshoba-County-Fair fashion).
I will check out airbnb as I have not tried to use it. Maybe it would be better than Craigslist.
