They did not have a search warrant and possibly don't need one in the case of a hotel room with connecting rooms. I believe the occupants that had set off the alarm made claim that I was the cause of the alarm going off. Basically they wanted to make sure I wasn't also doing Meth. When I opened the door I do have to say they were overly polite since it was quite obvious I had already fallen back asleep. They asked if I would mind if an officer entered with a drug dog, did a quick search and would leave if no alert was made. I knew I was fine so I didn't stop and they appreciated that I wasn't acting out against them even after being woken up again. I'm all for protecting my civil rights and made the decision for myself to allow them in vs having them use false or actual authority to enter my room.
The kicker is my then gf slept through the police part. I am a much lighter sleeper.
