It may be interesting to try and just treat Cooper Pedy as a side trip?
I looked at that, but it doesn't appear to have stops enroute. In April, it only runs once a week, on Sunday. It doesn't appear to stop in Cooper Pedy or Uluru. For anyone reading this thread in the future, and interested in the train, it is called The Ghan. I've resigned myself to driving as the only practical thing to do.

Does anyone have suggestions on where to stay in Port Augustus and Cooper Pedy? From everything I've found online, we'll need to do the Cooper Pedu to Uluru stretch in one day.
