Anything can happen. You likely will be treated professionally and efficiently. However, in my case I was verbally abused and humiliated and summarily rejected. I complained to a high-ranking CBP official I happen to know and after that I was treated like royalty and approved in a followup interview within five minutes. Note that before I appealed to upper management, MANY people told me that I must have done something wrong, although I knew that was completely false and I had been mistreated, which CBP subsequently substantiated.
CBP's procedures are COMPLETELY ARBITRARY and based on the discretion of whatever officer is interviewing you and whether he happens to like you/trust you or not. With that said, most people seem to have a much better experience than I did. My experience did not make me feel safer. Why was I a threat to national security one moment and a trusted traveler the next, when nothing substantial has changed in my life?
By the way, Global Entry is great and I am happy I have it now (mostly because I get to avoid the customs officials who I find to be rude about 10 percent of the time). And again, the likelihood is that you will be treated with respect. Just do not be surprised if the officer is a complete dick.
