There's no way AS would lead the charge on this, but there is a high likelihood of them emulating DL if this change is successful. However, with this move it seems DL is battling MR'ers, and those aren't quite the problem on AS as they are on DL. AS' network and pricing just aren't as exploitable as the legacies.
But when you can credit all DL (and AA and other airlines') flights to AS, the problem still remains that one
could do the same MRs and credit to AS instead.
What if AS implemented some minimum number of segments on AS to qualify for MVP? United needs 4 UA or UA connection segments to qualify for any elite tier, so why couldn't AS could do the same to make sure that MVPs are actually customers of Alaska Airlines?
