Only drawback with business fare is long flight with 3 stopover(19 to 26 hrs total time). Even though I checked the box for AA and partner airlines, it only shows AA flights. Nothing about LAN flights from SFO or LAX.

I also did multi city reservation, but that is extra 20k miles because SFO to Brazil is different zone. It is true that LIM to GRU is expensive. Our main idea for visiting Brazil is to see Iguazu falls and Sao Paulo. The LAN flight has stop in San tiago, Chile. Thinking of getting a free stopover at Santiago to visit look around Chile.(since this is a paid ticket, not through award, or is it possible to have award stopover?).

so our trip looks like this..

July departure

SFO - LIM - SAO or Iguazu (via Santiago. maybe stopover for two to three days)- SFO.

Or

SFO - SAO - (Iguazu) - Santiago - LIM - SFO

thanks

You may be making a big mistake. The aa.com website is incapable of displaying award-seat availability on the majority of AA's partner carriers, including LAN. (Checking the "include partners" box during a search on aa.com will only display those partners that aa.com is capable of displaying; LAN is not one of them.)

You need to call AA to check (and book) LAN award flights.
