The fire/smoke alarm in my room went off by itself in the middle of the night!

This happened at a Marriott Hotel on Long Island (NY) several years ago.

I was sound asleep and at about 2:30 am, the smoke alarm went off in my room. I quickly got up, thinking there was a fire in the hotel, got dressed, and opened the door to my room, only to discover the blaring alarm was only in my room.

Security arrived, and couldn't turn it off. They had to call someone in the hotel, to tell them how to do it. Once they turned it off, they asked if I had been smoking, which I wasn't, as I don't smoke. They said all should be okay, apologized for the inconvenience, and left.

About 45 minutes later, it happened again! Security returned, and disabled the alarm this time. Not surprisingly, I couldn't get back to sleep.

At check out later that morning, I suggested they send my hotel bill to the company that supplies the smoke alarms in the hotel, and they agreed, and comped my stay.
