For perspective, please see this thread:

Summary:
- DL is doubling premium cabin earning bonuses (now 100% bonus for J/F)
- Elite status now requires certain minimum spend thresholds in addition to MQM thresholds
- No change to redemption charts (yet?)
If you have thoughts on the changes to Delta's SkyMiles program, I humbly suggest you go to the thread linked above to continue the discussion there. Let's use this thread to talk about
what this DL change means for AS Mileage Plan, since in many cases you can choose between the two without affecting your choice of carrier.
1) If you regularly purchase premium cabin fares (on AS or SkyTeam airlines), you may now be more incented to credit your flights to DL instead of AS. This could hurt AS by moving the high value fliers to DL SM instead of AS MP.
2) If you achieve status via super cheap fares/MR-style fares on DL, AS MP may now be more attractive to you.
3) Most importantly, AS has always looked up to DL as a sort of 'big brother' and tends to emulate DL's spendthrift behavior (eg guest upgrade fare restrictions, companion fare restricted to coach only). Does this change signal an imminent similar change for AS? Will AS be able to NOT react, given that the changes are intended to drive the profitable fliers to credit to DL (and thus not AS)?
Again, if you just have thoughts about the change to DL, please use the linked thread to discuss. Let's keep this thread focused on what this means for AS and AS MP here.
