Help! Did my ticket get cancelled and refunded?

Purchased a ticket using a $100 and $200 E-cert back in May. In October, I noticed a schedule change and submitted a request to refund ticket as it was more than 60min change and didn’t really need the ticket anymore.
Fast forward until yesterday as I kind of forgot about it and the flight is in a few weeks. I log into AA and check My Reservations and it shows up still and it reads
Status: Ticketed May XX, 2012.

So then I went to this page:
https://prefunds.aa.com/refunds/

Put in my Ticket Number and Last Name to check refund status.
Status: A refund has been processed on this ticket 10/XX/12

I didn’t receive a new e-cert or any email from AA. However, if I go and do a dummy booking using my old e-cert # and codes the value of them shows up when I enter them. Does this mean I’m refunded and can book another trip or does the value always show up on the e-cert even after you use them? Also, they both would have expired by now. So if they are in fact refunded what is my new expiration on them? One year from the date I cancelled the ticket in Oct?
