If you look at a map of Rome, you want to be staying (in my opinion) west of the Colosseum and east of the Tiber.
Nice choice, campo de' fiori area is great to stay in; close to most attractions. Only downside is lack of easy metro access, but you can always catch a tram in largo argentina. Enjoy!
