It's a same day from NYC. All 3 airports around 450-475 right now. EWR has a 2 hour turnaround (direct), I'd rather spend a day there and turn around at night flying JFK->SFO->HNL->SFO/IAD->JFK. Leave 6am Saturday, back by the PM sunday.
That's a pretty amazing fare--wow! I'm jealous--wish I could do it.
With 8 hours on the ground, you might consider checking out Pearl Harbor, and maybe even taking the boat out to the Arizona memorial. It is quite a memorable, if bittersweet, experience.
