Did you check to see if you can find AA award separate w/Avios rather than use cash? If you use the BA site to search it won't work to mix classes (CW and the coach on the small plane connection) and partners (BA/AA) and would return no availability in my experience. I usually call to book what you are doing - unless you already did that? I wasn't sure
