Marketing carrier only matters in oneworld. You can book partner flights that normally wouldn't earn full credit under an AA flight number and still get 100% EQM/RDM and at least 0.5 EQP.
Indeed I can confirm this. LH flights operated by German Wings do not get credited to US Dividend miles, even though other LH flights flown by Air Dolomiti , Augsburg Airlines and LH City line all do. They all book as LH flights, only at the end do you see who is flying. Buyer beware.
