These are China versions (model I9308) that support only TD-SCDMA and EDGE/GSM. Global model + Unicom SIM is still a better bet for most foreigners. See http://www.samsung.com/cn/consumer/m...ubtype=android

True, but even the Taobao prices are still ~$75 more than buying in the US, and the official Apple Store/Unicom price is nearly $200 more. Combine that with potential warranty issues, and I maintain China isn't the best place to pick up an iPhone 5 (or any other Apple product, for that matter).
