I don't know the answer to your question, but what would be the possible benefits of getting Myanmar kyat in Thailand?

I would think you would get a worse exchange rate. As an added bonus, if you happen to get any fake bills, I'm absolutely positive it is illegal to bring counterfeit MMK into Myanmar.
