Why would anybody choose a chain hotel when there are so many smaller independent hotels available in Istanbul? They're available in every grade, and usually include free wifi and buffet Turkish breakfast. The chains usually don't give you this.
Is it about getting the points?
I think its more about being able to use points - but also quality/amenities. I've stayed at some great, very highly rated indi/boutique places in Istanbul - but they are not the same in terms of luxury as the Ritz or the Park Hyatt.
(Also, certain chains offer benefits such as wifi, breakfast to members w/status)
