About 2 years ago we had an HDTV information session at work. A Future Shop rep was there to give the consumer electronics point of view. I don't know if it applies to LCDs, but he said you must not ship plasma's flat on their front or rear. The screen will be damaged as it flexes when you hit a bump in the road.
They should be shipped as they are viewed, vertically.
This is not the only place I have seen this advice.
