I'll give you a recent example. The hotel bill was 2650 THB which, at 30.5 THB/USD equates to ~$87. The hotel ran the credit card to price in USD (they usually ask and in this case didn't) and the charge was $92.50 due to DCC.
Why should you pay more? Even if you pay a FOREX fee on the charge it won't be 6%.
IME it's always better to go with the local currency.
