I think the point that is getting lost was raised earlier in the thread- if you cannot be self reliant, you are relying on others. That can be an uncomfortable and potentially health impacting experience for the OP. While we would all want to extend a helping hand if and where possible, expecting that and not receiving it for whatever reason will inevitably result in a new thread on FT where an OP generally expresses outrage that they were abandoned; ignored; humiliated, etc. Check the darn bag and enjoy the flight!!
