I converted some of my avions to avios with a 50% bonus at the end of 2012 and used them for Qantas flights. I think they do the bonus a couple of times a year. You could check and see what airlines you can book with Avios.
Otherwise I use them directly for AC flights, and then eupgrade. Might be more challenging to upgrade with Tango flights in the mix though.
