Interesting question in my view - I am a huge Aman fan and would always prefer Amanpulo to any of the other luxury Philippino resorts at this stage of my life at almost any price point, but this is in the context of being a busy mother of young children and a super-stressed husband. Before we had children we also stayed in Aman properties but definitely did not get as much out of the experience because our service requirements were so much less - so although we appreciated the beautiful properties and immaculate service, it always felt quite expensive for what we got and i would often eye nearby alternatives and wonder whether we might have been able to have almost as good a holiday for far less money. Now, to ensure a perfect holiday with no glitches I always opt for Aman's where possible, but going forward when life becomes a bit less stressful and our requirements are less specific i would look at other options too and expect a great holiday for possibly quite a bit less money!
