One word of caution when using a non-Thai credit card: many stores are now automatically selecting to convert the charge to the currency of the card rather than Baht. This can be a very expensive option so, if it happens, require them to reverse the charge and redo in Baht. The we heard a number of excuses about these but always insisted on Baht and it saved a lot of money.
