We took a beach house at Smiths Beach Resort last Easter and actually were pretty happy with it (against my expectations!). Ours was a 3 bed and they also have 4 bed options, and we were in one of the beach front ones with lovely sea views and a big terrace with bar-b-que etc. We liked the pool area (though the water was cold), liked the shop/deli, loved the overall area and location (Smiths Beach is great, there are very good coastal walks/runs from just in front of the hotel) and generally although i think private high end house rentals are really the way to go in that area i would happily go back to the resort in future.
