Though i am not a regular poster in this forum,however would be glad to provide help on this.
Was the booking made online or over the phone? If online,the person who made the booking screwed up. As per airline terms and conditions,name corrections or name changes are not permitted,though airlines usually does make exceptions.
I have never seen an issue with incorrect title in all my years of travel.So, there is nothing to worry about.The agent might be asking you to cancel your booking and get a refund and buy another ticket for available price. To be honest,why an airline would responsible for details entered online. You should be careful while reviewing the details. Ideally, you have 24 hours to review the details as all airlines in states offer 24 offers full refund ( though there are certain exceptions).
I know in the past,they used to correct the name by charging 50 EUR , however it's only a title,so why to be bothered.Let them know to update SFPD and it would be all set....
