My priorities are clean, quiet, safe, free room Internet, single within 1km of Metro station, not isolated, within 3? stations of city center areas.

from agoda.com, link to list of 53 hotels from $49-90: http://tinyurl.com/b52h7re

(from Priceline.com, may be repeats)

Tresor Tavern Hotel / Lavender / Kallang
Amrise Hotel / Geylang (Bedok)

Ok, I looked for more than a minute anyway ... but here goes.

- The Hotel 81s are generally all "love" hotels as pointed out ... as in expect neighbors to come and go at all hours and say for perhaps an hour or 2 max. Lots of foot traffic.
- Harbour Ville. Kind of in an isolated area near the port. Can be noisy at night as the large semis with containers go by there. Not walking distance to MRT.
- Both the Frangrances I would also avoid for the same reason as the 81s. Especially the one in the Joo Chiat area.

I don't see any on the list I would "recommend".
