Just to add my $0.02. Since you lean toward saving miles/points for flights to Asia (presumably in J/F) I would stick with that strategy and suck it up in coach for this flight. Yes, it's one of the longer domestic flights, but if you can get Main Cabin Extra, an Exit Row or one of the rows behind the exits with middle seats blocked (row 16/17 IIRC), it should be bearable. Especially if you bring your own entertainment (there should be AC power on the plane). Or maybe even consider booking two coach seats so you don't have to rub shoulders with anyone. One can be paid under your name, so you get miles, the other one can be paid or award.
