Last year when we were in Stockholm in summer we were disappointed to find that many restaurants and bars closed for summer (July & August). Is the same true of Helsinki? We are likely going end June/early July so might miss the summer closure but would be interested to know if it's significant there.
A lot of the fine dining places are closed from late June or early July to early August. You should be OK if you are here before the Mid-Summer (June 22nd this year), and still have some good choices ubtil the beginning of July. From eraly July to end of July, you are pretty much screwed.
You can, obviously, find restaurants open during July, but the best places tend to be closed. There are some nice summer restaurants on the small islands just off downtown, but their charm is more in the setting than the food.
