If they don't budge then 10,000 Avios compensation from BA sounds pretty good in your case, so we'll just have to pursue the complaint and hope to get something back to make up for it.
My argument would be you do have a CE ticket as you have redeemed twice as many avios for that route as you would have done for ET and if there had been a CE cabin on the MAN or EDI to LON flights you would be sitting in it regardless of the length of the stopover.

Thankfully I am Silver now but I do wish Nicci would sort this out for once and for all for the non status passengers that have these problems.
