Review Jan 2013

I'm currently here at the Senggigi (four nights) and think the property is outstanding, esp considering the price. As others have mentioned it is not a gleaming brand new property with the associated corporate feel that you'll find in Bali or Hawaii or the South Pacific. I think people need to make sure they have the correct expectations when they book the Sheraton Senggigi.

If one is looking for a more laid back, more authentic Indonesian experience, this is a wonderful option. The staff is second to none, food at the hotel is good and the restaurants next door are outstanding; big blue and lotus garden are great (at between $4-$10 per dish). There is a market right next to the resort which has hand made items (woodwork), clothing and antiques as well jewelry and other random items. Some of the items are unique to Lombok and not found on in other areas in Indonesia.

The grounds are second to non and the pool is a smaller version of those found at the mega-resorts in Bali. Many of the locals say Lombok is what Bali was 30 years ago.

The room rates are usually between 70-110/night and usually include breakfast. As a Platinum I've been upgraded to the executive suite both times I've stayed (in building 3 which is the best - building 4 second best) and get free WiFi (slow but works) and breakfast. The spa treatments are very good for the price usually about $30 to $40 for a session and they are always having specials.

To me this is property is one of the best values SPG offers. For travelers used to paying $150/night for a crappy 4Points this will seem like a gift from heaven. If you want a more refined experience, I'd go with the options in Bali but this is a great option if you like elements I mentioned above.

All in all this is a quality resort and I wouldn't hesitate coming back except it takes me more than 30 hours of flying to get here
