In my case I had an 2yr old with us so A/D across asile gave us more space for the little one to run back/forth to mommy and daddy. However even for adult, the middle D/G seats aren't like "side by side". yes you are pointing towards each other but you still need to sit upright and stick your head up to have proper conversation. IT's really up to you what you like, in my case it didn't bother me that unknown person sat "next" to me on seat G whilst I was at D.
