I could certainly believe that, but we were very disappointed that there was no place to take a stroll around the HR Hakone. Walking along the roadway can be a bit harrowing; it is fashionable to go for a "drive" in placed like Hakone, and a lot of drivers are oblivious to the existence of pedestrians. At the Hilton Odawara we liked being able to take a short stroll around the grounds after dinner or a longer walk along the nature trail before or after breakfast.

But I don't mean to compare the 2 properties as one being better than the other. They are completely different in every aspect, so while someone might like one more than the other, it is like comparing apples and oranges. I just think they make a nice combination, with easy and convenient transportation between the two, if someone has 4 or 5 nights to spend in the area.
