Yes my friend also said I'd better accumulate my SA mileage into other airlines' accounts instead of Krisflyer, especially I'm not using SIN as my base now.

Based on what others said, SQ YQ is killing the purpose of travel with SQ. I did a random search and found out that a SQ Q Class costs almost the same as YQ redemption. In that case, what's the point of using miles?
Since YQ is carrier dependent, by choosing alternative carrier (like CA, UA). You can effectively save hundred of dollars.
