Global First is a joke in my opinion, both seat and meals. The seats are no better than regular business class of non-US airlines with no privacy, the meals are the same as Business First = nearly as good as international flights, especially Asian carriers. I've flown Global First between EWR-HTR, Seoul-ORD, HRT-ORD and honestly I'd go for Business First over Global First because there's is really not much difference. The Business class on the 3 class aircraft is out of question, it's economy plus!
I think the problem with Global First is that its not really unique or distinguishable. I spent 99% of my time flying CO BF and for what it was it was a good product. But I think the fact that the catering is essentially the same (yes you get warm appetizers and soup), the on-ground experience not really any much better (ok they have F lounges but no seperate check-in, etc), and an overall lack of product push, its almost like UA is trying to kill off Global First slowly....yeah they threw in the turndown service (which I flew LAXLHR and the pad was there but I had to do the turndown myself), but there are a few things they could do that would essentially boost the product without exactly breaking the bank.
