Band 4 flights out of LGW have the same catering in CE but in ET it is some kind of sandwich and desert. (I have not actually seen the product myself). The reason for the difference is the design of the 737 galleys being too small to fit the meal trolleys required to serve a hot meal and lack of oven space too.
The sandwich and desert in ET was an enhancement that was introduced when the number of cabin crew on the ex-LGW 737s was reduced to 3 about 6 or 7 years ago. Prior to that in ET, on the PRN rotation at least, which IIRC was a Band 4, there was a hot breakfast on the outbound and a hot meat on the inbound plus drinks trolley and duty-free.
