OK, I stand corrected. I actually had a vague memory of clearing a CPU after checkin, but I'd seen a couple of posts implying otherwise.
I agree with the "mysterious" epithet. While I'm more generally content with the post-merger system than a lot of FTers, I still remember a lot of PMUA practices with fond regret, and the upgrade list was one of them. You could go on the mobile app at your window and see how it looked... and then people cleared in order of the list... and all was transparent. *sniff*.
(Of course, I was a 2P back then, so all the upgrade list told me was "You're #37 on the list... on an CR7." But it's the principle that counts.)
