But when I view the upgrade list, it says the list shows only those users who are both checked in and eligible for upgrade. From the United iPhone app:



But obviously I can't check in until 24 hours before departure; as a result, instead of getting on the list at T-48, I'm getting on it at T-24, and thus get a lower priority on the upgrade list.

What am I missing? I've called United and they agreed it didn't make sense to them either.
