Aa program is an order of magnitude better than DL. Why do you want to earn miles you'll never be able to redeem? YMMV.
(As a reference from my own experience in socal - we spent 2-3 mil aa, UA, ba and BD miles over the last 2-3 years and not one DL mile - never saw availability even though I really tried to unload a pile of sky pesos left from NW days).
