Yes, I meant low chance even with points. As said, it is a bit of a lottery and in no way guaranteed.
If there are any seats to upgrade to (in my experience, the J and Y+ cabin is usually pretty full or even sold out well before the first round of upgrades 7 days before), CL upgrade requests are first, then WP1, then WP, then SG, and so on.
Personally, I would save the money and either look at alternatives like a reward flight from SIN/HKG in J, or as said book Y to SIN/HKG and Y+/J for the rest.
