Damaged Bag Claim

Anyone know Thai's policy about compensating for damaged luggage? My Rimowa suitcase came off the conveyor with about a foot foot dent. They told me they couldn't repair it and would replace it. I'm only in Thailand for 4 days though and their solution is to bring me an ancient rimowa bag and order a new one for me for when I come back to thailand. I don't plan on traveling to thailand for at least another 6 months and find this unacceptable. Anyone have any ideas about the best course of action. The only other time I had a bag damaged I was given cash compensation.
