Well, I knew it was a shot in the dark, but thanks everyone for replying. Back in the day (or maybe still for others) they would offer upgrades at the gate for maybe $100 (probably domestic at that rate) but I guess they don't do that any more.

Maybe someday when I win the lottery...
I have never seen DL at LHR sell upgrades at check in or the gate. OpUps do happen, but DM/PM/GM would be ahead of you and the flight would have to be oversold in Y for it to happen.

Also, be sure to watch to see if lower Biz miles come open - it'd cost $150/ticket to change, but might be worth it to you.
