I am a bit surprised nobody posted the Classic
Cebu Pacific Safety Dance
or the
Christmas Version of that
yet.
Certainly, this would never work on European Airlines (Unions would go mad, and a lot of BA's cabin crew is probably already over the age where you want to see them dance in front of you - no offense

)
In my opinion it just works! People gotta pay attention.
Of course a safety demonstration doesn't have to have a choreography, or Hollywood Stars, but it shouldn't be terribly dull either.
Ever noticed a manually announced safety demonstration where the crew member makes a mistake reciting the script? Suddenly 50% of PAX will look up from their Papers, Books, or whatever else they cared for before.
Just do SOMETHING interesting.. Tell Jokes (AB Crew sometimes does that), or anything that make people pay attention.
After over 50 BA flights in a year, I could repeat BA's safety announcement word by word. And it probably took me far less than that to get there.
Usually, if the crew does something, I still make an effort to look up - not because I care, or learn anything new, but simply out of respect. If they just press play on the video I've seen several hundred times by now, I don't bother anymore.
