I was wondering the same thing. Was happy with access to E+ at checkin, so a First upgrade is icing on the cake. I guess cuz I fly slow routes on Tuesdays at 11:20am!
the easiest way to find out is to just go on united.com and re-checkin your itinerary again. when you tell it how many bags you want to check in, it should re-assess the fees given your confirmed cabin class (R in this case) which should then tell you your bag fees are $0.
