Hi,
My wife and I are planning to take a trip to the states during the first 3 weeks of June. I'm trying to figure out the best plan for flights to maximise my TP and Avios during this time.
Our itinerary is somewhat along the lines of:
New York
Washington DC
San Francisco
Drive the Pacific Coast Highway
Los Angeles
I am currently considering the following 2 options (although very open to other suggestions):
- GLA-LHR-JFK-LHR-GLA booked with BA. I'd then use AA to do internal flights (JFK-DCA, DCA-JFK-SFO, LAX-JFK). For this option I'm wondering what sort of connection time to leave in JFK - don't want to end up stuck if my LAX-JFK flight is delayed...
- GLA-LHR-JFK, LAX-LHR-GLA booked with BA. I'd then use AA to do internal flights (JFK-DCA, DCA-JFK-SFO)
Rough dates of travel would be 1st June - 20th June.
I'd also quite like to able to upgrade from WTP to CW on the inbound TATL leg, given this would be a night flight (unfortunately there doesn't seem to be any availability that I can see).
Or, if no CW upgrade is available, it would be quite nice to experience the new WTP cabin (I was a bit underwhelmed after my first WTP experience at the weekend in the current cabin, having recently experienced new PE on VS).
