I would recommend KE too ... when I book my flights, I book through the KE website using my SkyPass account. This allows me to choose the seat that I want. I then call KE and have my reservation tied to my SkyMiles account - but I must do this AFTER selecting my seat under my SkyPass account. This. Above poster has great advice.
1) Sign up for Skypass
2) Choose seats online
3) Call the KE office in LA to switch the Skypass number to the DL Skymiles number...but still keep your boarding pass until you get credit etc etc. Although, if you fly a lot to Asia you may want to consider starting to bank Skypass miles in that their upgradeable tix seem to be only $300-600 more than their cheapo tix.
4) If you didn't have the extra stop on the DL route, I would tell you to fly EC. The extra legroom really does make a difference on a TATL/TPAC flight, and the KE Y seats, while the service and food is better, aren't as comfortable due to the lack of space. That and KE is like everything in Korea; they can overheat the cabin, it can get stuffy.
