You didn't need a crystal ball to see this coming.

I did a UA SIN mileage run with a cheap fare with two gifted SWU: paid less than 1100 CAD from YWG and got about 7000 CAD J class in return. UA cannot continue to subsidize such junkets any longer.

Aeroplan was just two years ahead.
