At the same time, Zimbabwean nationality is often obtained by South Africans to avoid restrictions on South African passports (so much so, the Zimbabweans tried unsuccessfully to crack down on it). It may not be quite legal, but it is possible and a South African colleague did it as he found the South African passport was presenting him with some problems. Since he has little intention of going to Zimbabwe and has no assets in country, it would seem unlikely he will face trial for it.
