I'll take the word of the wiser heads, though it doesn't look like the cradle seats I recall... but my warmest memory of the pre flat CW beds was a trip back from NRT just as the first gen flat beds were being introduced (with the hard fan dividers). The LHR-NRT route was promoted as having fully flat beds and for whatever reason the rostered 747 wasn't available so we ended up with the cradle seats. To be honest we weren't that aircraft savvy in those days (though we did, of course, travel on the UD!!) and hadn't even noticed that we should be fully flat, so it was a bit of a surprise to each be handed a crisp £50 note as compensation as we disembarked in London .
