I think I got the best deal. After draconian travel cuts at work last year I was down to 19 nights in 2012. Needless to say but I was very surprised to get my PLT card today. They've earned my loyalty for another year.
I figured it was a mistake when I received a 2014 Plat card -- I was well below 75 nights (but above 19 nights
and didn't meet the end-of-year plat renew challenge, so I was expecting to drop to gold.
My account overview on marriott.com still shows my number of nights from last year, so it will be interesting to see what happens when they reset the number of nights to zero.
