I was at PEK so early this morning; I can't remember which line I used since nobody was there waiting. I think I used the economy line.
I knew my flight from Shanghai is delayed so I called Aeroplan in Canada asking if there is a chance to change to the direct non-stop flight from PEK to YYZ. Was told couldn't be done over the phone but could try to do it at the airport. Well, got to the airport at 6:00am and found out the AC counter doesn't open until the afternoon. It was not a total surprise but was still disappointed.
Then trying to get into the lounge needed a bit explaining to the women at the lounge's desk. They ended up calling someone to get it sorted out. By then, there wasn't that much time left before boarding anyway.
After arriving at the the Shanghai Airport and managed to find the luggage storage facility. It is at the furthest corner of the departure corner. Ended up taking the magnetic train into the city which was neat. Then spend the afternoon walking around Nanjing Dong Road area.
After that came the chaos at check-in. Even though the original flight was scheduled at 5:45pm, check-in not available until 9:30 pm. Even though I'd checked in online, there was no bag drop facility. I did get a ¥100 food voucher good for tonight only. Imagine all the less than happy customers there.
Now, still waiting in the lounge because the flight has been further delayed! Aauugghh, when i checked this morning, there was 5 seats left on that non-stop from PEKto YYZ.
The 'joy' of flying continues.
